LE SAVON NOIR aka LE BLACK SOAP!
KISMET will soon be offering the famous black soap, or ‘savon noir’ of Marius Fabre, to our customers for maintenance of their cement tile.
Savon noir is an all-natural olive-oil-based soap that is made from a recipe formulated in the late 1800s in Marseille, France. While cement tiles are enjoying a relatively new popularity in the US, they have been ubiquitous in France, Italy, and other Mediterranean countries since the late 1800s. US customers are often in a quandary as to how to maintain their cement tiles, and it is important that they be treated correctly. Savon noir literally offers the perfect solution–diluting a table spoon or two in a gallon of water will provide a 1-step ‘wash’ of your tile which, because of its pH-neutral formula and the ‘moisturising’ properties of the olive oil, create not only a natural, low-level sheen which is the classic ‘look’ of the tile, but also protect the tile from spills and stains.
